Director: Ágnes Péntek Imréné
Our institution has a unique educational profile, as we exclusively educate and nurture children and students with special educational needs. The entire educational process is shaped by the development of individual abilities, therapeutic assistance, habilitation, and rehabilitation. The mission of the institution is to provide a solid support system and professional guidance for parents raising children with disabilities.
Additionally, our school prioritizes the introduction of new opportunities in developmental education year after year. We are delighted to collaborate with Future Meditech Zrt. to bring even more vibrancy to everyday life at the Developmental School.
Characteristics of Our Students
Among students with severe and multiple disabilities, we often find a combination of severe communication disorders, varying degrees of motor disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. These students require specialized support to meet their needs, maintain their health, build relationships with their environment, and actively participate in society.
Initially, their relationship with the physical world often revolves around passive experiences such as feeding, personal hygiene, and dressing. At this stage, these represent the entirety of the world they perceive and feel comfortable with. This inward focus limits their ability to explore the broader world. Therefore, the goal of development is to open the perceivable and observable world for them, helping them discover the order of the human and material world, and expanding their understanding of reality through higher cognitive processes. Our important task is to guide these students from their isolated world into a shared one where they can gain new experiences and be encouraged to engage outwardly.
Our Joint Project – Virtual Reality for Children
For Skill Development
We aim to create a new, safe, and interactive environment to enhance children’s skill development. Virtual reality enables us to simulate real-life scenarios while developing cognitive, motor, and social skills. These personalized experiences not only make learning more effective but also boost the children’s confidence and independence in everyday life.
For Experiencing Nature
The basic units of structuring time stem from changes in nature (times of day, seasons, the growth and development of plants, animals, and humans). Developmental education ensures opportunities for students to gain direct experiences with natural phenomena and engage in related activities, such as seasonal games and traditions.
With VR, our students can experience the sensation and atmosphere of exploring the wider environment. They could walk in virtual natural settings, interact closely with their favorite animals and plants, fly to distant worlds, travel through clouds, or discover stars. Virtual reality fosters immersive learning, enhancing motivation, engagement, and understanding. It opens a new dimension for the development of students with severe and multiple disabilities.
